This page describes how and why Penwell (operated by Vargas Solutions) sends text messages, how consent is obtained, and how recipients can opt out.
Penwell sends person-to-person greeting card delivery messages from (707) 736-6363. Each message contains a link to a greeting card that a Penwell app user personally created for a specific recipient. Example:
"Cassie sent you a Penwell greeting card! Tap to view your personalized video message: https://penwell.app/card/abc123 Reply STOP to opt out."
We do not send marketing, promotional, or recurring subscription messages.
Messages are initiated by the sender, not by Penwell. Inside the Penwell iOS app, a user creates a greeting card, enters or selects their recipient's phone number from their own contacts, and taps Send. Before sending, the app displays the following disclosure:
"Your recipient will receive a one-time text from Penwell at (707) 736-6363 with a link to view your card. Message & data rates may apply. They can reply STOP to opt out at any time."
The sender confirms they have a personal relationship with the recipient and a reasonable basis to believe the message is welcome (see our Terms of Service, Section 4). Each card produces a single, one-time delivery message.
Message frequency varies and depends entirely on how often someone chooses to send a card to a given recipient. There is no recurring or scheduled messaging.
Recipients can opt out at any time by replying STOP (or STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT, OPTOUT, REVOKE) to any message. Once opted out, the recipient will receive no further messages from Penwell, even if a user attempts to send them a card. Reply START to resubscribe.

Message and data rates may apply according to the recipient's mobile plan. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Phone numbers are used solely to deliver the requested greeting card. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.
